Describe the theory the author(s) derived or applied.
What are the hypotheses?
What do you think about these hypotheses?
Can they be tested?

Independent variables

All independent variables contribute to the format by answering the following questions:
a) For each variable, was it operationalized adequately?
b) For each variable, what evidence for validity is given?
c) For each variable, what evidence for reliability is given?
d) Are the measures quantifiable?
e) Is the unit or level of analysis specified and defined?
Example:
Gender: a) no need to operationalize,
b) face validity,
c) no evidence of reliability,
d) categorical variable (1=female; 0=male),
e) individual level
Age: a) years,
b) face validity,
c) no evidence of reliability,
d) quantifiable data
e) individual level
